Dion Rites Held; Pioneer A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Bernadette's Church, Hamburg, for Walter G. Dion, 88, of 78 Amber Buffalo, a pioneer movie projectionist and inventor of a zoom system of spotlighting for stage perfomances.

Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Town of Hamburg. Mr. Dion, a Bradford, native and longtime Buffalo resident, died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 1979) in Garden Gate Manor Nursing Home, Cheektowaga, after a six-month illness. In the 1940s, he and a son, Gerald, of Buffalo invented a zoom optics for concentrating stage spotlights, which has become the world standard for shows, ice rink events and rock concerts.

Rights to the system were sold to the Strong Electric Co. Projectionist of Toledo, Ohio, in the early 1950s. Mr. Dion first worked at the Shea's Buffalo Theater and later in the former Great Lakes and other Buffalo theaters. Beside developing system, he and his sons 70050 built, owned and operated the Lockport Drive-In Theater from 1946 until it was sold in 1950.

He was a past member of the Buffalo Council, Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Esther M. Webster; Gerald and two other sons, Robert of Cheektowaga and John of West Seneca; three daughters, Mrs. Walter McAlister of Hamburg, Mrs. Bernard Ruesch of Orchard Park and Mrs.

Arthur J. Corbett, Lumberman Funeral services will be held Saturday for Arthur J. Corbett, 82, former vice president of Evans Lumber who died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 1979) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital after being stricken with a heart attack at his Clarence home. Mr.

Corbett, a World War I Navy veteran, was widely known in the lumber trade here, having sold wholesale to almost every lumber yard in the Buffalo area. He started in his father's lumber yard in Akron but joined the Evans firm in 1938 and retired in 1968. He was a long-time Scout leader in Akron and was a member of Akron Lodge No. William H. Burnett, 76, a long-time building engineer at Buffalo State Psychiatric Center, were held today in the James E. Grace Funeral Home, 335 Ontario St. Mr. Burnett, of Buffalo, died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 1979) in Deaconess Hospital.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Mr. Burnett moved to Buffalo in the 1920s. A self-educated man, he began working at the old Buffalo State Hospital in 1927. He retired 41 years later as an engineer in the hospital's power plant. Besides his wife of 49 years, the former Ellen Mahoney, he is survived by four daughters, Doris M.
