Is a better symbiosis between the natural landscape and our living communities possible? ♻️In an interview with Wouter van Noort at NRC, Wouter Veldhuis, a national advisor for the physical environment in the Netherlands, calls for a long term and climate-conscious perspective for urban planning and infrastructure investments in the Netherlands. Veldhuis points out that seemingly simple policy choices over the decades create ingrained "pathways": habits, economic interests, policy logic, infrastructure, networks of relationships and capital that completely capture the character of a place for the long term.He urgently calls for the need to take a different path. "We are facing the necessary transition from a century of prosperity to a century of well-being."

➡ "There are no separate systems. Where to draw a boundary depends on the questions we want to ask." (Donella Meadows). Research group Henry van de Velde (University of Antwerp) and CBE Hub (TU Delft) join forces for an event on 12/12 on circularity & the built environment. A limited number of places are still available. Join us by registering via the website. ⬇ What to expect:- Learning from each other's perspectives, being: manufacturer, constructor, designer, policymaker, developer, owner, researcher or user of the built environment in Belgium or the Netherlands;- Dissecting complexity into manageable near and far views, beyond (country) borders into concrete actions.https://lnkd.in/euVhHsMH#circularbuiltenvironment #circulardesign #circulareconomy #cprp #blockchaintechnology #blockchainforcirculareconomy

Indeed, it is much better for students to be involved in transition development, design and execution because, as potential future leaders they need to understand, recognise & learn to deal with the do’s and don’ts of transition operations. Every transition, how specific it may appear has similarities with other transitions. And do’nt forget, transitions always deal with people who have to adapt and change behavior.
