Hi all! Based on input from viewers, I've revised some of the links to the resources you'll need. The sounds and processes may not be exactly as portrayed in the video, but they'll still give you a realistic mock. Also please note that I haven't been active in the EAS mock community for several months now, and a lot has changed since 2017, so don't be afraid to explore other options, or put your own creative spin on your mocks. Oh, I'm working on a few scenarios based on sci-fi or faith-based ones, but I wouldn't mind a bit if I saw you nick my concepts for the '80s "V" maxi-series ("V" & "V: The Final Battle"), Biblical Rapture or End of Days, "World War III" the '90s mockumentary & Ben Marking's unfortunately quashed BBC war broadcasts. I get the feeling you'll do a superior job on 'em if you give them a go & there's enough leeway in the ideas to have more than one way to spin them...🙃

Great tutorial! The only thing I would change is that in audacity, it’s much easier to change mme to windows WASAPI and then change the microphone to “[your audio device] (loop back)”. That way, you won’t have to go through the complication of not having your stereo mix enabled, you can just play it through your speakers without it. You can also use balabolka instead of sitepal, but I do see ways that each could be convenient. Also, some people’s stereo mixes don’t work, including mine even though I just installed a new driver. Also, for whatever reason, I have to export my audacity project in order to hear the audio when a play it, but that’s a different topic. Other than that though, amazing tutorial!

1:26 Your background reminds me of the time I had to do remote IT support for a district vet. I made the terrible mistake of minimising all of his windows and was presented with a sheep's rear end badly afflicted by flystrike. I was not OK for a long time after that.

I'm doing my first video right now, id just like to put out that. On FEMAs website, you can find null header tones, that are slightly off pitch, so they wont cause an activation. Thats what I'm using for mine. Thanks for putting this out here, I was really struggling on the video side of things.

I prefer using scansoft tom, it's closer to the actual voice.
Also, for numbers, type it in words (nine one one) rather than numericals (911)

I’m actually been thinking about making my own EAS Scenarios. I actually have been giving ideas to a lot of the biggest/popular EAS Scenario creators such as The Galactic Empire From Star Wars Attacking Major Cities All Over The World, 2nd Great Chicago Fire, etc.
Hopefully this tutorial will help me. I’ve been wanting to do one for a while

It would be interesting to put a eas video out in regards to "The Chocolate Touch" by Patrick Skene Catling. It is about a boy who gets chocolate with a mysterious candy store and everything that he puts in his mouth turns to chocolate. It would be interesting to make this chocolate touch something contagious that can spread from human to human.

Hey thanks for the tutorial. I just have one problem with it though, when you're playing the audio you didn't mute your music in the background and you were also talking while it was playing so there was too much going on to focus on the actual sounds (i.e, the subtle white noise). Other than that, great vid!!

I think it would be badass if you did one in which a gunship from the game Children of a Dead Earth attacks the laser skiff from the Interamna mission. In that case, it's in the far future, so you can increase the resolution of the text, and increase the naturalness of the voice.
However, you should unmistakably decrease consistency of the story that the system tells, since the Republic of the Free People has a government and media that lies a lot.

This is really cool. A well-done EAS mock is great drama and I'd love to see more people making good ones.
But those liked videos of yours...man, on the one hand, Gammer is awesome. On the other hand, I feel for you. It looks like you've got some pent-up misplaced hate.

Maybe it's odd how much I enjoy EAS videos, but they fit a pretty cool niche. The best ones are like radioplays with only one character but all events are informed, not shown so there's a sense that things are happening regardless of what any characters, if any, are doing.
Sometimes, less is more.

My idea is to make a eas that starts in Czechia, where the President Miloš Zeman uses entire Czechia and Slovakia to rule entire europe, so first there will be a Radio Station playing (i will make some voices for it in czech language), then it stops, and plays the CEAS (Czech Emergency Alert System), then it will be in EAS (Normal Emergency Alert System) in US as global alert EAN

I've got a suggestion, and it sounds a little bit weird. Basically, a country (let's just say Russia or China) launches a missile and an emergency action notification warns everyone about the inbound missile. However, right when the missile is about to impact, it fades into a cloud of fog. An administrative message informs everyone that it is safe to come out of the shelters claiming that the missile self destructed. What they do not know, is that the cloud of fog released a pathogen into the united states, and takes it's course of action infecting the entire population, essentially killing everyone. Just something I personally thought of.

The only thing i noticed wrong was the font. I'd rather use VCR EAS or VCR OSD Mono Font than Sydnie. But you still did do great work!

I'm using a Macbook Air. Audacity is working fine and downloaded (version 2.2.6 as of typing this comment) but since I don't have a Windows I can't find the "recording devices" thing to get the stereo mix going. Is there a way I can do this or does it not exist?
(Specs are OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5 Early 2014 Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB)

Try and do Alert Ready in Canada with it's noises for an Infection That first hit Southwestern Ontario, Where Pelee Island is, and the infection goes all through Canada, Starting with the 1st alert as Toronto, ON. Then after, you choose all the locations in Canada for the Alert. To help you out: Canada EASes have a Red bar with white text, A full red box with white text & Alberta has a White Box, With Alberta getting striked by a storm with letters beside it saying "ALBERTA EMERGENCY SYSTEM".

Stereo Mix doesn't want to work for me. I've even gone into the audio settings on my PC and enabled stereo mix, but the green bar on the right doesn't fluctuate when I play audio on my PC. Any tips?

These used to give me nightmares. I keep thinking that the dates mentioned in these videos will be potential world ending date. But that wouldn’t happen for BILLIONS of years in the future. For example: a video titled: “Top 10 Scary Predictions For 2021”. One of them was apparently an asteroid would hit Earth on the 6th of May. Luckily, it was a conspiracy theory. People have improved with their scenarios. I wish they wouldn’t use sirens, as it makes it more scary. I wish someone would make a video on how to make EAS scenarios not scary.
