    For the special operations community and Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEFs), utilizing Commercial GPS devices for a wide range of activities—from pinpointing locations, coordinating fire support, to arranging resupply meetups with other units, including the integration of Garmin-based and Android phone-based GPS data into tactical awareness systems (e.g. TAK, RAA-VAK, etc.)—is not recommend for critical military operations. Relying on commercial GPS devices exposes you to significant risks. Cease purchasing such equipment and refrain from incorporating their use into your Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Train like we fight and for the next war used to be a thing. https://lnkd.in/ebkAavmR

    Interesting point made this morning in this book....victories in the realm of electronic warfare are temporal. The amount of time that one has to exploit the opportunities created by effects in the RF spectrum is dependent other side's speed to adapt. It continues to show the importance of creating maneuver space at the right time and right place, which includes looking at how that applies to the RF spectrum--especially if this is where tactical units fight!

    24 July 1954: An interesting historical milestone in the development of tactical military communications!On this day in 1954, James H. Trexler, an engineer in the Radio Countermeasures Branch at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), spoke carefully into a microphone at the laboratory's Stump Neck radio antenna facility in Maryland. Two and a half seconds later, his words speeded back to him at Stump Neck, after traveling 500,000 miles via an Earth-Moon circuit. For the first time ever, the sound of a human voice had been transmitted beyond the ionosphere and returned to Earth.Trexler's achievement marked an early watershed in the Department of the Navy's Communication Moon Relay project (also known as "Operation Moon Bounce"). The ultimate goal was to create the longest communications circuit in human history, with the Earth's satellite acting as a passive relay.During the 1950s, the Navy considered secure and reliable communications links to be critical to national security. Ionospheric storms had recently cut off radio transmissions to the U.S. fleet in the Indian Ocean, thereby demonstrating dramatically the vulnerability of communication lines. The objective of the Communication Moon Relay project was to add another high-tech option within the Navy's inventory of secure global communications technologies.https://lnkd.in/ghXP3daA

Note scale Cobra was a grab and dump no questions no harm Just dump the bank and walk. Gets easy.Literally…The logic was they were not to have it so if it was dumped what are they going to say?And then what happened? Think very carefully about source code

    Empty coffers embolden empty promises. The services capture much of the funding, and while OSD directs, it does not often have the teeth to ensure execution. Perhaps allocating additional funds at OSD to strengthen initiatives like the “JADC2 Implementation Act” https://lnkd.in/eyhcxAqr and the designated agents (OUSD R&E and A&S) will stimulate future apportionment of funds to incentivize complementary integrated warfighting concepts and capabilities being development by the services. Notably, advanced modeling and simulation will be utilized to provide technical expertise to the joint force to examine new operational concepts and test capabilities.#wargaming #modelingandsimulation #MDO
